Inner-City Paint Corporation is a small company that manufactures wall paint. This company was established by Stanley Walsh and it is situated in Chicago’s downtown Business area. Alongside this small paint company there are many giant companies present in Chicago that is a huge challenge for the Stanley. Inner City Pain Corporation developed rapidly since it was started. At the beginning of the company there were only two personsand the sales were around $60,000 and after five years, now its sales has been increased considerably and reached to $1,800,000 and now there are 38 employees working within the organization.

Situation

Inner city has developed its market position with its 5 and 55 gallons containers. Company is also admired the rapid supply as the company provided the supply within 24 hours. In the present situation there are growing opportunities for the company in the market. Company has five mixtures including three big that can produce up to 400 gallons per mixture per batch and the other two are small mixtures that can produce 100 gallons each which means they have the ability to provide large supply. The quality of the Inner-Paint products is also good as there is lab to make sure the quality of the product. Company also provides bargaining over quantity purchased and on the base of the colors that attracts the customers.

Problem

Although company is in good position to supply large orders but there are some problems that resist companies to get huge orders. The first problem is with the management as there is no proper system to manage organizational operations. The owner of the Company Walsh who manages most of the operational tasks by himself is considered a disorganized person by his customers. Inner-City also is in difficult financial straits and unable to pay suppliers.

Investigation method For the investigation, Inner-Cities is observed in various aspects including the background of the company, business progress throughout its working history, ability of the organization, Views of the customers towards the organization, Financial Structure of the organization, the style of management and the number of employees working for the company. Solution Considering the problems, it is described in the case study that to solve the financial problems, Stanley is aimed to borrow money from the bank to pay his current bills. He wants to integrate his operational management from manual systems to computerized operational systems with an aim to improve the efficiency of company’s operational work and to reduce the paper work within the organization. For this purpose, Stanley is proposed to get assistance from a consultant to help him to solve the problems; however, he aimed to not spend more than $300 for the consultancy service. Moreover, Stanley believes that as the business will become improve, he will be able to get-rid-off from the bank loans. Evaluation The recommendation for the solution of the problem is somehow good as it is necessary for the company to integrate its operational system and transform its manual system to automated system as it will increase the efficiency, will reduce the burden from the employees and will be helpful to maintain the record. Secondly, to get loan from the bank is a good option but at the same time it is risky as well. Because there is need to give confidence to the customers to improve the business. For this aspect before taking loan from the bank, Stanley needs to ensure him as an organized person by the mean of improving his business management. Recommendations Considering the overall situation, the first priority of the organization should be to improve the management of the organization, for this purpose it is recommended to Stanley to get some professional training to understand the responsibilities and to get the skills of a manager. There is need to support employees empowerment and employees motivations. Managementsystem should be integrated from manual system to automated system. To regain the confidence of the customers, Stanley should change his management style and he should prove himself as an organized person and he needs to hirea person who has some experience about publicrelations. After winning the customer’s trust, the bank loan option would be advantageous for the company to improve its business. All the employees should be provided professional training. To improve the facility, there is need to buy more equipment and improve the laboratory testing process to fulfill huge orders of the customers.
