Wal-Mart has adopted different motivational techniques or methodologies in a way to enhance the productivities of its employees through their focus on results or outcomes rather on employees. The motivation of the employees is helpful in a way to increase the loyalty of the workers or staff members towards the organization whereas on the other hand, low motivation or reduced wage rates would end up in loss to the businesses like Wal-Mart have seen.(reports.droy, 2015) There come two types of motivational methods or techniques, which include rewards from the boss, management (Extrinsic Motivation) and the rewards that employee is able to derive from his performances (Intrinsic Motivation).

The motivation could be built in a way to tie up the pay or salaries of executives with the staff motivational practices. The Wal-Mart management is trying to link up the high raised pays of the executives with the provision of living wages and enhanced conditions at work i.e. adoption of extrinsic motivation. (Layne, 2015) The increase in the rewards or wage rates of the employees is also very beneficial for the management in terms of motivation of the employees. This thing enables the workers to stick to one organization, which is offering better rewards to them as it not only enhances the motivation of employees rather it supports the strategies of the organization. This factor would support those employees who have goals or aims which directs their behaviors and ideas towards the specific end.

The improvement in the infrastructures or working conditions also adds up to the motivation of the Wal-Mart employees.(Flessner, 2015) The improvements in rewards or salaries of the workers are able to develop the engagement of the employees in the organization. There is a close connection in between the rewards and employee engagement, such as in the case of rise in the salaries of the workers at hourly basis would results in better morale, reduction in employee turnovers and high rate of productivities at particular workspaces.(Gothamculture.com, 2015)
