Jeff Davis, the director of Space Life sciences at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), suggested some changes in the organization. According to him, awareness is necessary for creativity in work. The environment of open innovation is necessary for new ways to establish affective system approaches. These scientist and researchers utilized developmental strategies as recommended by Davis.

There are some benefits of open innovation and Davis has quite clearly communicated these advantages to the concerned authorities.The basic purpose of this approach is to provide an open innovation environment and a composite system for collaboration of different research problems especially related with health and space travel. These issues should be dealt with an out of box approach that is innovative and effective. However, SLSD members do not consider this approach practical; their main concern is that, the open innovation approach does not fulfill all the benefits that were promised.

This major issue being discussed in this case is incorporating the innovative approach with proper mechanism, in a way that it can be incorporated in the day-to-day research. Such daily research and development is a tool that significantly challenges Davis approach. The Case has provided description about the efforts that are in accordance with the approach and the reaction of members. The reaction after and before implication of open innovation at NASA is another factor presented in the case. The case also mentioned that there are some challenges that the pilot has been facingsince establishment of NASA, and Open Innovation has solutions about those challenges.

1.The open innovation was effective, as it has initiated technological creativity at large scale. Because of the application of this approach, the space and earth both have acquired open innovation integration. The production of new technology means that there is a proper realization about innovative techniques. Locus of innovation is the main element during instilling innovativeness at a fundamental level. At the basic level, SLSD has acquired strategic planning mode through Open Innovation
