The major product at Jarir Book store is the book of different subjects that are available at Jarir Platform in English and Urdu. This company is dealing in school supplies, Arabic and English Books and Publications, Children’s Toys and Educational Aids. Jarir Marketing Company is also dealing its business in Arts and Crafts Materials, Computer Peripherals and Software. Moreover, the Jarir Store is extending its business with Mobile Phones and Accessories and Maintenance of computers and electronics items. Under the trademark of Jarir Bookstore, Jarir Marketing Company is operating two divisions wholesale and Retail. Headquarter of Jarir is located in Riyadh Saudi Arab (Alawi, 2013).

After getting success in Saudi Arab, Jarir Bookstore also extended its business to other countries and received great response. It has expanded its business in United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, etc. Considering the importance of online business, Jarir Bookstores has also established its online store where it deals with its wide range of products (Alawi, 2013).

Barnes & Noble is an American based retailing book selling fortune 500 company. It is the leading retailer in the country regarding digital media, educational products and content. There are 647 retailing stores are working under the Barne & Noble Booksellers trade mark in all around the States of America (Barnes & Nobel, 2015).

Barnes & Noble is mainly operating its business under the Barnes & Noble Booksellers which is a chain of bookstores. Headquarter of the company is situated in New York City America. After the bankruptcies and series of mergers of 1990s in the Bookstore Industries, Barnes & Noble is the only store that holds its business as a national bookstore chain. The major recognition of the company is its large retailing outlets that contain a café serving Starbucks coffee. However books, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels, DVDs, games music and Nook e-readers and are the major product that are sold on the platform of Barnes & Noble Bookstores (ADSAN, 2015).

History of Jarir Bookstore

Jarir Book Store is Saudi based Company which was first established as Jarir Company in 1974 and later on in 1979 the Jarir Book store was established by considering the potential of whole sale market in Book industry. The first bookstore was established in Riyad and within time it expanded its business to other cities as well as to other countries. Major growth of company was seen in the decade of 1980s. Within time, company converted to Joint Stock Company and later on in 2003 it was became a listed company in the Saudi Capital Market.If we look at the history of the company, it shows that the company has paid up the capital SR 900 million (Alawi, 2013).

The Jarir Marketing Company started it business in Saudi Arab as a retailer and wolesaler, however it expanded its business to other Gulf countries including Qatar, Kuwati, Bahrain etc. This company has been running 33 showrooms in different cities of Saudi Arab whereas it has also running its 5 showroom in other GCC countries including Qatar, Kuwait and a United States Country Abu Dhabi. On the other hand, wholesale division is running 4 showrooms and half of dozen direct sales offices (Alawi, 2013).

Jarir Bookstore is established by the efforts of Al-Agil brother who started to work on their dream project in 1979. At the starting time, a small store was established in Jarir Street in the famous area of Riyadh. The store was based on the specialized supply of school products and office products, however since the start of the business the customer were highly regarded by considering their demand and so their satisfaction was one of the major concern of the business (Tadawul, 2015).
