Outline

Thesis statement

By the mean of comparison and contrast in between two essays, the core purpose is to find the common and different aspects in two different writings to create a connection in between them.

Introduction

Compare and contrast writing style is used to find common things and things that are in contrast in two writings, it is used to make a connection by considering the comprehensiveness of two writing. Usually the writer reflects the circumstances and their life experience in their stories, similarly, the writer of both stories focus on the living style and living standard of the people and describe the cultural and behavioral aspect of the societies. They express hardship of the people and their attachment with the little things. Moreover in the essays I want to discuss the meaning that is proposed to express through these two essays.

Comparison of the Topics

Topic of both essay are very interesting and comprehensive in their nature “A city not on a hill” by the writer Joan Wickersham and the other topic used by the SUSANNE PAOLA ANTONETTA as “Journey’s end” both topics express a story in it and grab the attention of the reader. The first topic, a city not on a hill is an irony in which the writer is addressing the psychological understanding of the people. The writer said that every city is known by some other names which represents some of the interesting fact about that place but usually this interesting thing is interesting not for the locals but this type of names are usually given by the people do not live at that place, therefore, he gives an interesting title to his essay “A city not on a Hill”. Similarly, the topic chosen by Susanne “Journey’s end” also put the reader into suspense from very first line of the essay as the writer keep on thinking about what is the journey and what will be the end of the journey.

Writing Style

The writing style used by the both writer is impressive as in both writing, I did not found a moment when there is no connection in between the writing and throughout the writing the element of curiosity remains the same even at some instance it raise higher and higher. In the essay “A city not on a Hill” the writer describe the nature of the people to analyses different things and said that human become used to its surroundings and the things that seems different to other, do not seems the people who live among them.

In the other essay “Journey’s end”, Susanne adopted a descriptive style of writing in which the subject matter was a bungalow and all the events revolves around the bungalow.  Moreover, the writer calls the emotions of the readers by the mean of describing the emotions and affiliation with the old bungalow where the writer spent times with her other family members.
