The civil rights movement saw many leaders rise up and fight for those that couldn’t, as well as for those who didn’t think there could be a better way. Dr. Martin Luther King was the most notable civil rights leader in America and was seen as the face of the movement. During his time as a public figure he had his opinions on the war in Vietnam and how America was committing a tragedy. [V1] Dr. King gave a speech titled “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence” in which he gave his views on the war and turmoil in foreign lands. Dr. King Logically states how America is enlisting itself in foreign military matters that are not morally right. He continues to give factual and emotional reasons as to what America is doing wrong as well as how it is affecting the innocents of the country,  [V2] 

            Throughout his speech he is very adamant on why these actions are morally wrong and he does this by backing his emotional response with facts about the motive as well as the actions of our country.
