Student’s learning and academic achievement do not take place in isolation. Student’s motivation is essential element in this regard.  Motivation development requires active participation for both the parents and the children. Student’s performance and subsequent academic achievement highly relies upon motivation to learn and perform (Grolnick, Benjet, Kurowski, & Apostoleris, 1997; Wong, 2008). Motivation is attributed with several positive outcomes for the student. For instance, motivation leads to academic achievements such as improvement in grades, test scores, reading and writing skills. Besides academic achievements, positive outcomes are also related to student’s attitude and behavior. Motivation positively influences student’s cognition, morale and I can do attitude (Grolnick & Slowiaczek, 1994).

            Student’s motivation is dependent on number of factors. Parental involvement is considered as important strategy for student’s academic motivation. Number of notable research studies has realized its importance and considered parental involvement as a crucial factor behind motivation in students (Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler, 1995, 2001, 2005). Over the years, lot of credible literature has been published which investigates the role of parental involvement in children’s learning and academic motivation (Hobbs et al., 1984; Epstein, 1989; Chavkin, 1993).
