Six thinking hats and related parallel thinking idea provides a means for planning thinking process. This is a detailed and cohesive way of thinking process, which generates creative and affective ideas and solutions to the problems. Basic idea of the six thinking hats is associated with distinct way of thinking which can challenge. Such distinctions are provided with the notion of a six hats. Yellow hats deals with application of logics for benefits as well as seeking harmony.

  • Value, benefits and optimism: Yellow hat is concerned with demonstration of brightness and optimism in thinking process to generate affective solutions and ideas. Under this approach thinker explores positive notions for value and benefits. Values are considered as more abstract as compare to benefits. Value can be assessed in an idea to sense the notion of enjoyment. On contrary benefits are more specifics. Therefore, it is important to think about the questions such as who is going to reap the benefits and how the benefits will be enjoyed. For instance, customer satisfaction could be brought by the idea of customer survey analysis (Debonoconsulting.com, 2013). Moreover, bonus system and other compensation plans in the organizations reduce high turnover. In yellow hat, thinker must come up with reason to support the benefits claimed. This leads to optimism in thinking process. Optimism obliged thinker to think about possibilities, which are even vague or less likely to occur. Sometimes it happens that idea itself is narrative but the conceptual understanding behind is of great value. Hence, the concept should must alive and promote for creative thinking process. 
  • Competitive advantages associated with Yellow hat thinking process: Major competitive advantage associated with yellow hat thinking process is optimism. Optimism make thinker to engage constantly in solution to the problem without quitting the quest for effective solution to the problem. This approach even considers every opportunity, which is likely to occur. Therefore, such consideration eventually leads to possible solution of the problem faced by the thinker. Focus on values and benefits create more viable and affective solutions to the problems and ideas. Moreover, Creative efforts associated with green hat thinking leads to alternative solutions to the problem. Alternative solutions are necessary for feasible solutions. Sometimes ideas are better and affective; however, different constraints hinder the process of its implementations.  Different constraints such as time and financial resources create hindrances to implement affective solutions to the problems.  Therefore, alternative options in thinking process are hallmark of yellow Hat thinking process. Green hat is used to remove faults, once identified. This is the most crucial factor in green Hat thinking process (Debonoforschools.com, 2013).
