Five Unethical business practices: Prevention and role of researcher

Un-equal employment opportunity: It is responsibility of business owner to provide equal employment opportunity. When employment is given based on personal affiliation and interest, business ethics are violated. Providing employment opportunities based on merit makes business ethical for its responsibilities towards employment. It is important for the researcher to consider violation of State and federal laws in this regard.

Lack of social responsibility: It is utmost important for business to consider social responsibility towards stakeholders, e.g., environmental stability, quality products. When business exclusively focuses on profit orientation, neglects its responsibility toward the society through its products, services, operational, and process, social responsibility is on stake. Researcher needs to investigate which responsibilities are not fulfilled by the business towards the society with which it operates (Gerri, 2013).

Child labor: When business employs the children below age of 18, it is considered as child labor. Majority of labor and civil laws of various countries across the world prevent child labor. Researcher needs to investigate various organization and bio data of work force involved in employment.

Discrimination: When unfair employment practices are being made in businesses based on various discrimination practices, ethical standards violate. Discrimination practices include but not limited to gender, ethnicity, and religion. Fair employment practices prevent discrimination in business. Researcher needs to evaluate discrimination in business with respect to various demographics and possible measures to prevent.

Glass ceiling: Class ceiling occurs, when specific class of work force is restricted to reach upper rugs of the organization e.g. women, minorities or special peoples. It is moral and professional responsibility of the business to provide equal opportunities to progress in the organizations regardless of status of the work force. Researcher needs to make investigation based on women, minority or any other group, which could be the potential victim of glass ceiling (study.com, 2014).
