Why Was Haier so successful in China?

There are several reasons Haier was so successful in China and because Haier started the business operations, earlier that any other company started operations in the China. Haier had the competitive advantage of not getting the competition in the market because when they started selling the white goods and electronic items, there was no substantial company operation at that China. Moreover, Haier has also introduced the better technology in the China because they knew that Chinese people are going to be quality conscious and therefore they made the agreement with the German technology company. Haier was importing the refrigerators and washing machines production lines from the Germany and all Chinese people wanted to purchase this technology from the Haier Company when there was no stiff competition available. Haier was not only importing the technology from the foreign countries but they have also emphasized over its design so that they can attract the Chinese customers and increase the market share, they were not only providing the good and better products but also offering the attractive designs.

Can Haier build on its success in niche products to become a dominant global brand in high-end white goods? It was the good strategy designed by the Haier’s company because they also did not have any competition in the foreign market when expanding into other countries. According to the Haier’s senior executive, we should not be exporting the products to the American without establishing any brand name but we should be establishing the business operations inside the America with the certain brand name so that we could have the market reputation and increase the market share. Moreover, the management was more concerned about the quality and they never wanted to maintain the quality levels like other Chinese manufacturing companies. When Haier started its business operations in United States of America, they were offering the quality manufacturing products to the Americans and establishing its brand name. They emerged as the competitive company for the American companies and increased the market share from them. Moreover, Haier also kept its prices lower as compared to the competitors, this was the effective market strategy where customers attracted towards the lower pricing electronic products designed by the Haier. American and competitors in other countries were selling the product at the higher prices, Haier had already operating at the economies of scale in China, and therefore they could afford selling electronic products at lower prices as compared to its competitors. Therefore, these policies were effective and efficient in expanding the Haier business all over the world. 3- Is Haier’s “three thirds” strategy a viable or wise approach? Haier’s three third strategies are not viable because it would make the operations complex and management would not be able to manage the production. According to the three third strategies, the first strategy is the one-third production shall be taken place into the China. They would sell goods in China. It is not a wise strategy because they should produce all electronic goods in China to take the advantage of cheap labor and lower cost of production. Therefore, Haier should have been producing all goods in the China According to the second strategy, Haier is responsible for producing the electronic goods in China and selling to the foreign country, I think this is not a viable approach because it would increase the transportation cost as they have to transport and ship the goods to the foreign country. According to the third strategy, one-third production shall be made and sold both overseas, although it would save transportation and shipment cost yet other than China production is expensive due to lack of availability of cheap labor. Therefore, “three thirds” is not a wise and viable strategy because it would complicate the business operations and it would increase the cost of production.
