Doha was founded under the name of Al-Biddain in 1825. Name Doha was derived by the Arabic language word Ad- Dawha, which means a big tree. Reference shows that there is actually a big tree, which is located near sea. There is lot of fishing villages on the eastern beach of the Qatar peninsula. Word Doha might derived from the word Dohat, which is also an Arabic word which stand for gulf. Doha is referred to bay area nearby the cornice. This city was disserted land where nobody wants to live. Human conditions were not present such as water.

            During the World War II, Doha city suffered lot of damages. Al wajbah fortress was built by al Rayyanin the 1882 and later on by sheikh Qasim bin Mohammad. He came with the army for achieving victory against the Ottoman Empire. There was still large portion of Qatar Economy depending on the pearling and fishing, and that time Doha had approximately 350 boats. When Japanese introduce the pearl culture of Japanese in 1930, Doha had suffered lot of bearers, and Qatar was plunged into poverty. Moreover, extraction of oil in 1930 was also halted just because of World War II.

            After World War II, there came a change in the Doha due to its producing of high quantity of about 800,000 barrels of oil on daily basis. Government house established in Qatar and that place became the most important prominent landmark of the Qatar in 1969. In 1765, Doha was a small village, which was mostly known by the name of Al Bidda. Doha village was again destroyed due to harboring an outlaw in the November 1847 after the leading of Shaikh Isa Bin Tarif Al Bin Ali chief of Al-bidda. Al Thani Family shifted to Al Bidda from Fuwairet, after the visit of resident of British who came to that village.

            Doha was along with Al Wakrah after the attacked by the Bahrain in 1867, which created roots of capital of Qatar. The British did not want to trade with Bahrain, because Al Kahlifas of Bahrain broke the treaty forbidding maritime warfare in their area. The British came to Qatar and held a meeting with the headman of Al Bidda, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Thani.  Purpose of meeting was to ensure leading Qatar as a nation state and ruling under the Al Thanis.

            Situation developed where a time comes for battle because of disagreement due to interference and tribute in the internal affairs. The Ottomans were defeated and left the small centre of Doha during the World War I. Doha became the capital of Qatar that was made as a formal British protectorate in the 1916.  According to a research, there was increase in Population by 12000 habitants and Doha had round about 350 boats for pearling and fishing business in the 1900.
