Student’s learning and academic achievement do not take place in isolation. Student’s motivation is essential element in this regard.  Motivation development requires active participation for both, the parents and students. Student’s performance and subsequent academic achievements highly rely upon motivation to learn and perform. Similarly, student academic performance is dependent on motivation to learn. Motivation is attributed with several positive outcomes for the student. For instance, motivation leads to academic achievements, such as improvement in grades, test scores, reading and writing skills. Besides academic achievements, positive outcomes are also related to student’s attitude and behavior.

            Motivation positively influences student’s cognition, morale and I can do attitude. Student’s motivation is dependent on number of factors. Parental involvement is considered as important strategy for student’s motivation. Number of notable research studies have realized its importance and considered parental involvement as a crucial factor to motivate students. Over the years, credible literature has been published, which investigates the role of parental involvement in children’s learning and academic motivation.

            Demographic variables also affect student’s motivation. Students’ motivation varies with respect to demographic variables. Pakistan is a country, where parents do not involve and consider, seriously and intensely, the academic matters of their children. Lack of availability of time, due to intense economic conditions, working schedule and culture of low children-parent interaction, reduce parental involvement in child’s academic matters. Current study aims to investigate or scrutinize the correlation amid parental involvement and student’s motivation for their homework. Study will be conducted in University of Central Punjab.

                This study is based on the Parental-Involvement model, proposed by Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler (1995). Model provides different predictors, which significantly influence student motivation, as per the study of Hoover-Dempsey. Study has adopted four predictors proposed by Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler (1995).  These are Parents’ modeling, instructions, encouragement and reinforcement. Moreover, mediation affect of appropriateness of involvement activities of parents will also be identified. Affect of parental involvement, in students’ academic matters, has positive outcomes e.g. motivation of student augments, when a student knows that his/her parent are concerned about his/her academic career.
