Imitation of Life is a 1959American romantic drama film directed by Douglas Sirk. The filmed is an adaptation of novel of same name Fannie Hurst’s. This movie was interesting and the character of the white widow mother is also very interesting in the whole movie. In the year 1947, widow had the dream to become a famous Broadway actress. One day she loses her daughter on the beach and asks a person name Steve to help her to find her daughter. Susie, the daughter of that widow found on beach with Annie Johnson, who was a black single mother. She also had a daughter of the same age of Susie. However, the skin color of Sarah has white because her father was white. Therefore, she was taking the advantage of her fair skin and the characteristics of a European.

Overall, the movie is good enough that carry the story of the two women in different way. The black woman was homeless therefore; she took by the widow with her to her home. The both women took advantage from this opportunity because the black woman get take care of the house and widow became able to take focus on her acting career. Soon she becomes a star of stage comedies with Alan Loomis as her agent. In addition, the relationship of widow started with the Steve Archer. However, this was not a good relationship because Steve did not want her to become a star or actress. On the other hand, the woman had the aim to become a star
