There are several factors contribute in the effectiveness of teams. Communication and motivation are one of the two important factors that positively influence team effectiveness. Team effectiveness was first evaluated by Kurt Lewin in 1930’s. He focused on the work groups and forces that make group work effective. Later on, McGregor (1960) also presented a list of factors important for effective teamwork engagement (Odportal.com, 2015). Communication and motivation are also present in his work. When teams are form, people have to work in collaborative manner.  Therefore, communication is very important. Communication not only necessary for delivering messages to each other, it also integrate teamwork on a unified direction. Moreover, communication is necessary for feedback, work evaluation, delivering tasks, roles and responsibilities as well as conveying messages.

Open lines of communication where every member has right to make participation is considered as effective. Communication with dissent is regarded effective for teams because of innovative ideas associated with difference of opinions. Similarly, motivation is lifeline for effective teams. When team members are motivated to perform the job, their overall performance is better and team produce better results. If Lack of motivation is present is present in any of the member, if effect the overall effectiveness of the teams. Both extrinsic and intrinsic rewards are given to motivate the employees. For instance, extrinsic rewards include salary and promotion and intrinsic rewards include feedback and praising of work. When these factors are present in the job, team members feel themselves motivated and they contribute in overall effectiveness of teams.
