Substance abuse issues became the popular at workplace. Employees use many substances at workplace. Like some employees use internet, new technology and drug issue is a very diverse issue of substance abuse at workplace. This issue case many problems at workplace: the after effects of using substances, productivity low, and employees’ absenteeism rate become high that reduced the productivity of the company. Employees started doing illegal activities at workplace; and do not focus on their work. The employees start using internet at workplace. Moreover, he/ she do not focus on their work. When those employees involve in this type of activities it put a worse impact on the company’s performance. The one who involve in substance abuse influence his/ her performance and those employees do not have a chance of promotion, any benefits and bounces. The main substance abuse, by survey is drug or smoking use at workplace. This cost to a company and it directly or indirectly influence on the company’s performance. Some costs are hidden like employees started absentees due to illness. Which lead to low productivity and the direct influence of this substance abuse causes road accidents. It also costs for a company in many ways like; those employees’ efficiency of decision-making becomes low. The turnover rate becomes high. They do not be able to give training of new employees, they sometimes involve in the theft, and they do not focus on their work due to tardiness. They do not behave in good way with their co- workers; they show no discipline at workplace at all. It is the responsibility of employer that to bring out their employees in this situation. For this purpose, there are many programs to give the training to their employees. Employees Assistance Program (EAP) is a most promoting and workable program. Employer also provides health facilities and education to those employees. The employer also established more effective policies and rules for the company. In addition, clearly mentioned the punishment if any employee involve in the substance abuse. Employer also guide their employees the importance of this program and encourage them to attend the program by telling the importance and benefits of this program. The policy and rules strictly followed by each employee. Employer must be very respectful with their employees.  Every company wants to form the work environment friendlier, highly productive and drug or any substance use free.   There is only one-way of doing this; do not hire the substance abuse employees but it is impossible because you cannot judge a person during the recruitment process.
